On Thursday, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack that targeted a gendarmerie training camp and a military airport in Bamako, the capital of Mali, and called on the government to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

Guterres expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the transitional government and the people of Mali, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured, including a member of the United Nations guard unit.

The Secretary-General called on the transitional government in Mali to ensure that those responsible for this despicable attack are held accountable.

It was reported that the double terrorist attack, which occurred last Tuesday, killed more than 70 people and left more than 200 injured.
