A UN spokesperson said Thursday that the organization will not participate in a newly established US-backed body distributing aid in Gaza, arguing that its mechanism does not adhere to the principles of neutrality and independence.
Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General said in a statement, "I have made it clear that we engage in aid operations that are consistent with our core principles. We have repeatedly stated that this distribution plan is not consistent with our core principles, including the principles of impartiality, neutrality, and independence, and we will not participate in it."
