UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan, Denise Brown described the current situation in the country as "extremely shocking," emphasizing that the primary goal is to secure essential resources for citizens.

In an interview with "Al-Qahira News" TV channel on Wednesday, Brown stated: "We visited Sudanese cities after months of negotiations to secure basic resources for citizens living under dire humanitarian conditions. We are striving to provide them with necessary supplies."

Moreover, she added that thousands of civilians have been displaced from Sudanese cities due to war and sieges, fleeing to areas where conditions are exceptionally difficult. These displaced populations suffer from acute malnutrition, a lack of healthcare, and nearly non-functional public facilities.

"We have been keen on providing safe corridors to deliver life-saving supplies, food, healthcare, clean water, and protection services to civilians in Sudan despite the ongoing conflict. This is a primary initial step, with more steps to follow in the future," Brown continued.

Furthermore, the Coordinator reaffirmed the commitment to providing citizens with essential food and medicine, noting: "This is our core objective despite the immense challenges facing our work, as we operate under the harsh conditions of war and siege."
