UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk has condemned the atrocities unfolding in the Sudanese city of El Fasher, describing them as “among the most serious crimes,” according to Alqahera News.

Türk called for urgent protection of civilians in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, where fighting between armed groups has intensified in recent weeks.

The UN rights chief also warned of escalating violence in Sudan’s Kordofan region, adding that ongoing bombardment and siege tactics are forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes.

Türk urged the international community to take concrete action against individuals and companies fueling the war in Sudan, stressing that accountability is essential to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian and security situation.

Sudan remains engulfed in a devastating conflict that has displaced millions and triggered what aid agencies describe as one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
