UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths hailed Egypt's humanitarian response to the areas impacted by Storm Daniel in Libya.
During a meeting with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Griffiths expressed his appreciation and interest in further cooperation with Egypt to provide humanitarian aid to crisis areas in the region.
Last Sunday, the Egyptian Navy's Mistral carrier delivered heavy equipment and medical supplies to Tobruk in northeast Libya, including excavators, cranes, electric generators, tents, and search and rescue teams from the Egyptian Red Crescent.
The carrier will also function as a field hospital and has 102 containers, 79 of which contain subsistence and medical supplies.
