UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi emphasized that a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon is the only way to break the cycle of violence, hatred, and suffering.
Speaking during a UNHCR meeting in Geneva, as reported by the BBC on Monday, Grandi stated that "only a ceasefire can prevent a major regional war with global repercussions." He also highlighted the loss of 226 UNRWA staff members in Gaza over the past 12 months.
The High Commissioner added, "We cannot accept the loss of humanitarian workers' lives as mere collateral damage or, worse, label them as guilty or complicit."
