Speaking on Wednesday, Zelenskyy said that holding a referendum in Ukraine is impossible without adequate security conditions and a safe infrastructure. He noted that the ongoing conflict continues to undermine the basic requirements needed for any nationwide vote.

The Ukrainian president also announced that an agreement has been reached with national security advisers from what he described as the “coalition of the willing” to hold a meeting in Kyiv on Saturday. In addition, Zelenskyy said discussions are ongoing with former US President Donald Trump regarding the possible deployment of American forces as security guarantors in Ukraine as part of any future peace arrangement.
