Ukraine is launching a "Book of Executioners" to detail evidence of Russian war crimes in Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Tuesday.

Ukrainian prosecutors stated that they have registered more than 12,000 alleged war crimes involving more than 600 suspects since the Kremlin started its offensive on Feb. 24.

"Next week, a special publication is to be launched - 'The Book of Executioners' - an information system to collect confirmation of data about war criminals, criminals from the Russian army," Zelenskyy said in a video address.

Zelenskyy affirmed that this step would be a key element in his longstanding pledge to bring to account Russian servicemen who have committed what Ukrainian authorities have described as murders, rape and looting.

"These are concrete facts about concrete inpiduals guilty of concrete cruel crimes against Ukrainians," he said, citing the Kyiv suburb of Bucha, where investigators found what they say is evidence of mass executions.

On the other hand, Russia claimed that it has gone out of its way to avoid targeting civilians in its "special military operation" in Ukraine.

In previous remarks, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov accused the U.S. of adding fuel to the fire as U.S. President Joe Biden agreed to send the long-range rocket systems to Ukraine's military.

“We believe that the US is deliberately pouring oil on the fire. The US is obviously holding the line that it will fight Russia to the last Ukrainian,” Peskov said, adding that they do not trust that Kyiv will not fire the weapons into Russia.

“In order to trust, there must be previous experience when such promises were fulfilled. Unfortunately, such experience is completely nonexistent,” Kremlin spokesperson explained.
