The Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will hold a phone call with his US counterpart Joe Biden, within hours, to discuss the latest developments in Ukraine, Zelensky’s press secretary Sergey Nikoforov said on Sunday.
"In the coming hours, President Zelensky will discuss with US President Biden the security situation and the current diplomatic efforts to deescalate the situation," Nikoforov posted on Facebook.
It is worth mentioing that, Kremlin’s top foreign policy advisor Yury Ushakov condemned the US “hysteria”, which reached its peak during a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden on Saturday.
“The phone call between Putin and Biden lasted for more than an hour,” Ushakov said – in a press statement this evening, noting that the call took place in an atmosphere of unprecedented hysteria by US officials about the supposed Russian invasion of Ukraine.
He added: ” US President Biden, during the phone call, indicated to possible sanctions against Russia in the context of the tense situation in Ukraine, but there was no confirmation on this matter.”
On its part, the US White House indicated – in a statement – that President Biden warned his Russian counterpart, Putin, that Washington and its allies would not hesitate to respond firmly and quickly if Moscow invaded Ukraine.
“President Biden was clear that, if Russia undertakes a further invasion of Ukraine, the United States together with our Allies and partners will respond decisively and impose swift and severe costs on Russia. President Biden reiterated that a further Russian invasion of Ukraine would produce widespread human suffering and diminish Russia’s standing,” the White House said in a statement, adding Biden “was clear with President Putin that while the United States remains prepared to engage in diplomacy, in full coordination with our Allies and partners, we are equally prepared for other scenarios.”
"Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky within hours will discuss the security situation and the current diplomatic efforts to deescalate the situation with US President Joe Biden," he wrote on his Facebook account.
