Ukraine announced on Friday that it successfully shot down 27 Russian drones during an overnight attack. This claim comes as part of the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
In contrast, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that its air defense systems had destroyed 75 Ukrainian drones and 7 Ukrainian unmanned boats in the Black Sea.
The Russian defense statement detailed that overnight, as Kyiv attempted a terrorist attack using drones against targets within Russian territory, the operating air defense systems intercepted and destroyed the UAVs.
In related geopolitical developments, Niger has recently severed diplomatic ties with Ukraine, effective immediately, following a similar move by Mali just days prior.
These decisions came in response to allegations that the Ukrainian government was supporting terrorist groups, especially after significant losses incurred by the Malian military in late July during clashes with separatists and jihadists from the Tuareg community, as reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP).
