The United Kingdom Government will not take part in any U.S. naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, according to statements cited by Sky News.
The position comes after Donald Trump said the U.S. Navy would impose a blockade on the strategic waterway.
A UK government spokesperson said Britain continues to support freedom of navigation and keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, describing it as essential for the global economy and for limiting living costs.
The spokesperson added that the UK is working with France and other partners to form a broader coalition aimed at protecting maritime navigation.
