The UK government will provide another 1 billion pounds ($1.2 billion) of military support to Ukraine.

"UK weapons, equipment, and training are transforming Ukraine's defenses against this onslaught. And we will continue to stand squarely behind the Ukrainian people to ensure Putin fails in Ukraine," British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a statement on Wednesday.

The prime minister indicated that the new package of aid will include air defense systems, drones, new electronic warfare equipment, and thousands of pieces of equipment for Ukrainian soldiers, etc.

The total funding of British military aid to Ukraine will reach 2.3 billion pounds ($2.8 billion), and Britain ranks second in terms of the amount of support for Kyiv after the United States.

At a NATO summit dominated by Russia's invasion, which Moscow says is a "special military operation" to end Ukraine of dangerous nationalists, The Alliance agreed on plans to modernize Kyiv's armed forces, saying it stood fully behind Ukrainians'"heroic defense of their country".

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video link-up with the summit in Madrid that Ukraine needs $5 billion a month for its defense and protection.
