The United Kingdom announced on Saturday its commitment to provide $9 million to support the Disaster Risk Financing Program in Africa, administered by the African Development Bank.

This program is being executed by the National Disaster Management Authority of the Federal Republic of Somalia to assist those affected by the floods that have struck various regions of Somalia.

According to the Somali News Agency (SONNA), this financial donation will assist the National Disaster Management Authority in providing relief to those affected by floods caused by seasonal rains.

Mahmoud Maalim Abdullah, the head of the National Disaster Management Authority, expressed gratitude to the government and people of the United Kingdom for their ongoing support of the Somali people.

The Disaster Risk Financing Program in Africa, funded by the African Development Bank, plays a critical role in helping African nations respond to natural disasters and other crises.

By pledging $9 million to this program, the UK aims to contribute to the relief efforts in Somalia, where flooding has caused significant challenges for communities and individuals.

The commitment of $9 million by the United Kingdom underscores the importance of international cooperation in providing aid to regions affected by natural disasters.

As Somalia grapples with the aftermath of devastating floods, this contribution will be instrumental in assisting those in need and facilitating recovery efforts in the affected areas.

The ongoing support from the UK serves as a testament to the solidarity of nations in times of crisis.
