The United Kingdom has pledged £150 million, equivalent to around $205 million, to fund the purchase of US-made weapons for Ukraine under a joint allied initiative.
Defense Secretary John Healey said on Wednesday that Britain would contribute the funds to the Ukraine Priority Needs List initiative, a program established last summer to ensure the continued flow of American weapons to Kyiv at a time when new US military aid had stalled.
In a statement, Healey confirmed the UK’s commitment to the £150 million contribution and stressed the importance of providing Ukraine with essential air defense capabilities in response to what he described as Russia’s ongoing assault.
The initiative allows allied countries to finance the purchase of US air defense systems and other critical military equipment for Ukraine, reinforcing Kyiv’s defensive capacity amid continued fighting.
Earlier this week, Matthew Whitaker, the United States ambassador to NATO, said allies had already contributed more than $4.5 billion through the program.
The funding underscores Britain’s continued military support for Ukraine and highlights coordinated Western efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses against sustained Russian attacks.
