The United Kingdom may join military operations against Iran as the conflict in the Middle East intensifies, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Wednesday.

Starmer warned that the confrontation could continue for some time and called for faster increases in defense spending as Britain and its allies respond to rising regional tensions.

Speaking at a press conference, he also announced that four additional Eurofighter Typhoon jets will be deployed to Qatar to reinforce the UK’s defensive operations in the country and across the region.

The aircraft will join the existing British squadron stationed in Qatar, strengthening military readiness as the conflict escalates.

Earlier this week, UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper condemned Iranian attacks on Gulf countries, calling the strikes completely unacceptable.

The latest developments come amid growing tensions following US-Israeli military operations against Iran and retaliatory strikes across the region, raising concerns that Western allies could become more directly involved in the conflict.
