British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron expressed their concerns about the delivery of aid to Gaza during a phone call on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Sunak stated that both leaders stressed the importance of delivering urgent humanitarian support to Gaza.
They agreed to work together on efforts to provide food, fuel, water, and essential medicines to those in need while facilitating the evacuation of foreign nationals.
They also shared mutual concerns about the risk of escalation in the region, particularly in the West Bank.
This conversation comes as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned on Sunday that the situation in Gaza is rapidly deteriorating. He renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire to end the "nightmare" of bloodshed.
During his visit to the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu, Guterres expressed his dismay at Israel intensifying its military operations instead of endorsing a humanitarian ceasefire, urgently needed and supported by the international community.
He deemed the number of civilian casualties "completely unacceptable" and described the world as witnessing a humanitarian catastrophe unfolding before its eyes.
Guterres pointed out that more than two million people in Gaza are deprived of basic necessities like food, water, shelter, and medical care, with no safe haven to turn to while enduring continuous bombardments.
He called on all those with responsibilities to step back from the brink of disaster.
