The British government has revealed in its "Centennial Partnership" agreement with Ukraine that it is exploring options to establish elements of military infrastructure, including bases, on Ukrainian soil. This marks a significant development in Britain's ongoing support for Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict.

"Participants will explore options related to the deployment and maintenance of defense infrastructure in Ukraine, including military bases, logistics service depots, and reserve storage facilities for military equipment."

Prime Minister's Commitment to Ukraine

During an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Thursday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reaffirmed Britain's pledge to play a "full role" in any peace negotiations regarding Ukraine. Starmer hinted at the possibility of British forces being deployed in Ukraine to help maintain peace in the region.

France and UK Resume Discussions on Western Troop Deployment

According to reports from French newspaper Le Monde, both France and the UK have resumed discussions about the potential deployment of Western troops to Ukraine. The reports suggest that both countries are considering leading a coalition to support Ukraine, further underlining their commitment to the country's sovereignty and defense.

Russian Concerns Over Peacekeeping Forces

Russian intelligence has expressed concerns about the potential deployment of a 100,000-strong Western peacekeeping force in Ukraine. According to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, such an act would amount to a de facto occupation of Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov echoed these concerns, stating that "peacekeeping forces can only be deployed with the consent of the parties involved in the conflict."
