UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that the UK is considering recognizing a Palestinian state, the foreign secretary has suggested.
Cameron said Palestinians need a political horizon to encourage peace in the Middle East.
He said during a reception at Westminister that the Palestinian people need to see "irreversible progress" towards a two-state solution.
The UK Foreign Secretary told the Conservative Middle East Council: "As that happens, we - with allies - will look at the issue of recognizing a Palestinian state, including at the United Nations."
"That could be one of the things that helps to make this process irreversible."
Cameron resumed: "We have a responsibility there because we should be starting to set out what a Palestinian state would look like, what it would comprise, how it would work, and crucially, looking at the issue, that as that happens, we with allies will look at the issue of recognizing a Palestinian state, including at the United Nations."
