UAE's G42 launches open source Arabic language AI model

A group of engineers, researchers and a Silicon Valley-based chip company have teamed up to release a sophisticated Western-language program that can run artificial intelligence applications.

The large new language model, which he called "Jess", contains 13 billion elements that consist of a large set of data that combines Arabic and English, part of which is from computer code.

One of the motivations for the group that worked on the project, which included academics and engineers, was that they said there were few large bilingual language models.

The new language model was made with the help of supercomputers produced by Cerebras Systems in Silicon Valley.

“GACE” takes its name from the highest mountain in the United Arab Emirates and is the result of a collaboration between Cerebras, the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, and Inspection, a subsidiary of the G42 Technology Holding Group, which is based in Abu Dhabi and focuses on artificial intelligence.
