UAE, USA Hold Third Session of Their Joint Consular Committee

The joint consular committee of the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America had its third meeting in order to strengthen and expand cooperation in all shared consular areas and to better serve their nationals.

Sean Murphy, Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in the UAE, and Faisal Eissa Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, presided over the meeting.

The two sides also addressed how to follow up on and further develop a number of shared consular issues between the two nations, in addition to strengthening their bilateral consular cooperation, during the discussion.

Lutfi praised the significant advancements made this year in terms of bilateral consular connections and emphasised the significance of collaboration in the consular field and its role in fostering bilateral relations between the two nations.

He praised the efforts made by both sides to offer exceptional consular services and ease travel between the two nations for individuals.

He also conveyed H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan's greetings, expressed his appreciation for the close ties between the two nations in the area of consular relations, and expressed his hopes for the meeting's success, which reflects the aspirations and directions of the visionary leadership.

According to Lutfi, the UAE-USA bilateral relationship has made important strides, which have helped to advance and strengthen it on both a bilateral and global scale. He also emphasised the strong historical ties and shared interests between the UAE and the USA.

In response, Murphy lauded the UAE's innovative status at the regional and global levels as well as its crucial contributions at many levels, highlighting the significance of this committee in bolstering the frameworks of consular cooperation in all areas.

He also praised the improvement of bilateral ties over the past few years, particularly in terms of consular cooperation, and emphasised his nation's ambitions to expand cooperation and exchange knowledge with the UAE for the benefit of its population.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the relevant agencies in the USA as well as the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Interior, Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Ministry of Justice, and Abu Dhabi Health Services Company.

The UAE and the USA have had exemplary and strong strategic and historic relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations in 1972, based on respect and understanding for one another.

Bilateral relations between the two parties witnessed significant advancement in the past years through the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries, the signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding, and bilateral cooperation in all fields, most notably the areas of defence, education and economy
