The UAE completed the world's first nuclear energy project 27 years ago, and the Barakah nuclear power plants are a model for new nuclear energy projects, as the stations today play a vital role in accelerating the reduction of the carbon footprint of the energy sector in the country.

Earlier, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation announced last Thursday, that the handover of the last of the four nuclear power plants in Barakah to the operating teams.

Al-Bayan newspaper stated that the Corporation delivered the last stations to start operational preparations and tests for them, to obtain the "fourth station" to obtain an operating license from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.

The newspaper quoted Mohammed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the Managing Director and CEO of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, that "in the UAE Sustainability Year, the achievements at Barakah plants highlight the essential role of nuclear energy in the process of transitioning to environmentally friendly energy sources and reducing the carbon footprint of the energy sector."

Last February, the UAE Nuclear Energy Corporation announced the start of commercial operation of the third "Barakah" peaceful nuclear energy plant, as Al-Bayan newspaper reported that this commercial operation will enhance the contribution of the UAE peaceful nuclear plants to achieving the country's goals of achieving neutrality climate by 2050.
