UAE Astronaut Becomes 1st Arab to Complete Spacewalk

On Saturday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, announced the success of the first spacewalk in the history of the Arabs by Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi.

Emirates News Agency WAM quoted Al Qasimi as congratulating the Emirati leadership and people on the success of Al Neyadi in embarking on the first spacewalk in Arab history outside the International Space Station.

Al Qasimi stressed that "this historic achievement reflects the UAE's commitment to consolidating its leading position in the space, science, and technology sectors, and is a source of inspiration for future generations to continue the journey of space exploration."

The Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah stressed that the UAE's record in the field of space has become a title for qualitative projects such as preparing astronauts, sending space missions such as the "Probe of Hope", launching satellites, encouraging the space economy sector, and conducting technical, technical and health studies.

It is noteworthy that the Emirati astronaut, Sultan Al Neyadi, became the first Arab to walk in space after he left, yesterday, Friday, from the International Space Station to carry out maintenance and installation of solar panels.

"Today we reach a new station in our path... I underwent intensive training for more than 3 years in preparation for this task that requires high concentration and accuracy,” Al Neyadi wrote on Twitter.
