Nowadays, there are particularly deep concerns about the shortage of fuel and food resources in Lebanon.

In this regard, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres showed on Thursday "deep concern" about the deteriorating socio-economic situation in the afflicted nation and urged all officials and political leaders to urgently form an effective government of national unity, according to international reports.

According to a statement by his spokesman Stephane Dujarric, the UN chief said that "the people of Lebanon are struggling every day with hyperinflation, acute shortages of fuel, electricity, medicine and even access to clean water."

"The secretary-general calls on all Lebanese political leaders to urgently form an effective government of national unity that can bring immediate relief, justice, and accountability to the people of Lebanon," the statement added.

"He urged them to drive an ambitious and meaningful course for reform to restore access to basic services, restore stability, promote sustainable development, and inspire hope for a better future."

Lately, Guterres has expressed deep concern about the decreasing financial base of the afflicted country and the procedure used in this context.

It's worth mentioning that many countries and international institutions have called on Lebanon’s political leaders to urgently facilitate the formation of a new government that can build a stable, prosperous, and secure Lebanon that is responsive to the needs of its citizens.

This came after the latest peaceful demonstrations and expressions of national unity over the last months, which have sent a clear message to the world.

According to many reports, the majority of Lebanese people demand an efficient and effective government, economic reform, and an end to endemic corruption.
