Twitter disrupted a tweet by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, published on October 31, in which he called citizens to arm up against the Tigray region.

The tweet included screenshots from a post on his Facebook account, which was deleted, and contains abusive content against the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), which entered into conflict with Ahmed nearly a year ago.

Twitter stated that this tweet violated its laws on abusive behavior, but the site decided that it may be in the public's best interest for the tweet to remain accessible.

It is worth noting that Ahmed published, through his official account on "Facebook", a call for Ethiopians to take up arms against the TPLF, but hours after its publication, Facebook deleted it.

In the publication, He called on the citizens of his country to take up arms to confront the advance of the 'rebels'.

"Our people should march...with any weapon and resources they have to defend, repulse and bury the terrorist TPLF," Abiy said in a Facebook post on Sunday night.

He made his appeal on Facebook and Twitter after reports that the TFLP had captured new towns in neighboring Amhara province.

In August, the leaders of the Tigray People's Liberation Front and the Oromo Liberation Army signed an agreement on joint actions against Ethiopia's government in order to overthrow it.

Leaders of the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) said they plan an advance on Ethiopia's capital of Addis Ababa. According to various news outlet, OLA fighters are currently stationed north and east of Addis Ababa, trying to surround the city.
