Turkish Politician: Biden Descends from Kurdish-Muslim Origins

Orkhan Miroglu, a leader of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Turkey announced that the US President Joe Biden descends from Kurdish Muslim origins, as his family belongs to the Kurdish Beruki clan that resides in the eastern areas of Turkey and western Armenia before the family immigrated to the United States of America (USA) in the 18th century.

Miroglu, a former Turkish parliamentarian tweeted that he learned about the origins of the family of Biden recently from one of his Kurdish friends.

The Kurdish friend assured him that Biden belongs to that Kurdish clan.

In contrast, what is known about Joe Biden's origins is that he was born in Pennsylvania, USA, and his ancestors have English, Irish and French descent.

This tweet, whose content is difficult to verify or not, comes at a time when it is widely believed that Biden will adopt a policy in support of the Kurds and that relations between Ankara and Washington will go through, for this reason, and others, like the Russian "S 400" missile issue, with a difficult period.

The new US president had previously made statements against the Turkish foreign policy led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, amid the USA calls for more sanctions against Turkey which has enjoyed special relations with Washington following the Second World War (WWII).

Biden pledges to commit policies to contradict with ones implemented by his predecessor Donald J. Trump.

He renewed his pledge to rejoin his country to the Paris Climate Agreement, as soon as he takes over the powers.

He said last December,  in a written statement marking the fifth anniversary of the agreement that the United States left in 2017 during Donald Trump's presidency, that the  USA will join the Paris Agreement on the first day of his presidency.

Biden vowed that he will immediately begin working with colleagues around the world to do everything possible, including the call by the leaders of major economies to hold a climate summit during my first 100 days in office.
