Türkiye’s Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen, has taken part in a community Ramadan initiative in the Dokki district of Cairo, praising the spirit of solidarity that brings volunteers together to prepare and distribute meals for people fasting during the holy month.
The ambassador highlighted the work of the “El-Ma2eda” initiative, a local charitable effort that organizes the preparation and distribution of iftar meals with the participation of around 200 volunteers in Dokki.
The initiative focuses on providing simple but essential meals for fasting individuals at sunset. The dishes prepared by volunteers mainly consist of rice and pasta, which are cooked in large quantities and distributed to members of the community in need.
Ambassador Şen expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share the Ramadan atmosphere with residents and volunteers. He said the initiative reflects the deep sense of compassion and generosity that characterizes the holy month.
He added that participating in such activities strengthens the feeling of belonging and reinforces the shared values of solidarity that unite communities during Ramadan.
The Turkish diplomat also praised the dedication of the volunteers who contribute their time and effort to preparing meals daily for those observing the fast.
