On Saturday, the Turkish Ambassador to Egypt, Salih Mutlu Şen, attended the Cairo Fashion and Tex Exhibition, an annual event held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center from October 3 to 5, 2024. The exhibition, one of the largest fashion and garment industry events in Egypt, featured participation from 11 Turkish companies specializing in fabrics, yarns, cotton, and ready-made clothing.
This marks the ambassador’s second appearance at the event this year. During his visit, Ambassador Şen toured the booths of the Turkish companies, engaged with organizers, and delivered a keynote address during the Business-to-Business (B2B) session aimed at fostering deeper trade relations. The companies, including three first-time participants, were optimistic about the event’s potential to open doors to new business opportunities in the Egyptian market.
In his speech, Ambassador Şen expressed gratitude to the organizers and underscored the immense potential for collaboration between Egypt and Turkey in various sectors, particularly ready-made garments. He noted that this cooperation extends beyond trade to include technology, industry, and investment. The ambassador emphasized that Turkish companies’ interest in Egypt continues to grow, particularly in areas like trade, technology, machinery production, and investments.
Turkey is recognized as a leader in the apparel industry across the region and Europe, and Ambassador Şen highlighted Egypt's growing market as an essential partner for Turkish businesses. He pointed out that Egypt’s trade links with Europe, Africa, America, and the Arab world make it an ideal hub for expanding cooperation in the fashion and textiles sectors. The ambassador emphasized that this partnership follows a win-win strategy, benefitting both nations through increased trade, technological advancements, investments, and job creation.
The ambassador also noted Egypt's strong export capabilities, remarking that Turkish companies play a significant role in this, with many of the largest exporting firms in the country being Turkish-owned. This underscores the critical impact of Turkish investments on Egypt’s economy, particularly in the apparel sector.
Ambassador Şen’s visit also included a meeting with Mehmet Şerbati, head of the Şerbati Group, which is the largest producer of denim in Egypt, operating in both Turkey and Egypt. During their conversation, the ambassador discussed the growing trade and investment relations between the two countries and expressed optimism about future cooperation. He emphasized that the trade, technology, and investment exchanges between Egypt and Turkey in the garment sector would continue to expand every year, offering limitless opportunities for growth.
Looking ahead, Ambassador Şen highlighted the importance of this collaboration for both countries, noting that it not only increases Egypt’s employment opportunities and export capacities but also provides Turkish companies with a sustainable platform for success through their strong partnership with Egypt.
