Turkey’s Ambassador to Egypt, Salih Mutlu Şen, expressed gratitude to Egypt for its cooperation on humanitarian efforts for the Gaza Strip, coinciding with the arrival of the 20th Turkish aid ship at Port of El-Arish on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Embassy of Turkey in Cairo, the vessel is carrying approximately 1,400 tons of humanitarian assistance from Turkey to Gaza. The aid includes food supplies, hygiene kits, clothing, shelter materials, and children's items, prepared by the Turkish Red Crescent.
The assistance is being handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent for onward delivery to Gaza through El-Arish, as part of ongoing humanitarian coordination between the two countries.
Ambassador Şen, who was present in El-Arish to receive the ship, said Turkey welcomes the arrival of the “20th ship of goodness” sent to meet the urgent needs of the oppressed and affected population in Gaza. He noted that the pace of Turkish humanitarian shipments is expected to increase in the coming period following the establishment of Peace Council bodies supported by Turkey.
The ambassador also expressed confidence that the Turkish public would intensify charitable donations during the upcoming month of Ramadan, adding that additional relief supplies would be delivered through the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), the Turkish Red Crescent, and various civil society organizations.
Şen emphasized that humanitarian activities, including in the health sector, would be further intensified in close cooperation with Egypt. He voiced hope that Gaza residents currently in Egypt would be able to return safely, with dignity, and as soon as possible to their homeland.
The Turkish ambassador extended special thanks to Egyptian authorities for their continued support, particularly the Egyptian Ministry of Interior, the Egyptian Red Crescent, the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and the North Sinai Governorate, praising their role in facilitating humanitarian relief operations to Gaza.
