Turkish Vice President Fuad Oktay announced that about one million and 50 thousand earthquake-affected citizens were housed in temporary shelters established in the areas of the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria last Monday.
In a statement he made from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Center (AFAD) in the Turkish capital, Ankara, Oktay pointed out that the teams rescued 67 citizens during the last 24 hours from under the rubble.
He said that 80,000 injured people are receiving treatment in hospitals.
Oktay added that 190,000 citizens had been evacuated from the affected cities to safer areas.
He explained that the aftershocks are continuing and that 1,666 aftershocks were recorded after the two earthquakes, whose epicentre was the state of Kahraman Marash.
He noted that 31,254 searches and rescue personnel are continuing their efforts in the earthquake area.
