The Free Destourian Party in Tunisia and its head, lawyer Abir Moussa, are subjected to a series of repeated attacks, the latest of which was on Wednesday, during a plenary session of Parliament when the head of the part was slapped and insulted by MPs affiliated with the political Islam movement.
The attack on Moussa under the dome of the parliament drew widespread condemnation by human rights activists, political parties, national organizations, and public figures.
The Tunisian government immediately condemned the attack on the Free Constitutional Party's leader, Abir Moussa, under the parliament's dome, considering that verbal and material violence is unacceptable, regardless of its causes and sources.
Tunisian President Kais Saied commented the attack by MPs, Al Sahbi Samara and Seif El-Din Makhlouf, Abeer Moussa, during the inauguration of the new wing of the intensive care unit at the military hospital.
Saied said: "Look at the work that the medical team is doing in confronting the pandemic, and diseases, and look at the play that is taking place in a number of other institutions, where neither the director is successful nor the actor is successful."
He added: "This is a chance to denounce the violence that occurred yesterday (in reference to the attack), but I know very well that this attack was planned for three days ago."
He continued, "I condemn violence, even if we disagree with the people who have been subjected to it, and everyone who resorts to violence, especially in state institutions, must be held accountable."
