On Tuesday, Tunisia’s Foreign Ministry considered the statements of the European Union foreign policy official regarding fears of a “collapse” of the situation in Tunisia were “exaggerated.”

The ministry confirmed in a statement that "the statements are exaggerated, both in light of the firm steadfastness of the Tunisian people throughout its history and with regard to the threat of migration to Europe from the south."

"These selective remarks continue to ignore any responsibility for the prevailing situation in Tunisia, especially from 2011 until July 25, 2021.”

Josep Borrell, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced on Monday that the bloc is concerned about the deteriorating political and economic situation in the North African country, and fears its collapse.

"The situation in Tunisia is very dangerous," Borrell warned, after a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Brussels.

He noted that If Tunisia collapses, it threatens an influx of migrants toward the EU, causing instability in the Middle East and North Africa region.
