Trump's Potential Third Assassination Attempt Thwarted

A 49-year-old man was arrested at a security checkpoint near a campaign rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in California, US authorities announced on Sunday.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Office said the man faces weapons charges after two rifles and ammunition were found in his possession. The Sheriff's Office added that the incident did not affect the safety of Trump or his supporters.

The Las Vegas man was arrested with guns and fake IDs a quarter mile from former President Donald Trump's campaign rally in the Coachella Valley. While the sheriff described the arrest as a failed assassination attempt, the man told a reporter he bought the weapons for his own safety and told police at a checkpoint they were in the trunk of his car.

Former US President Trump warned of the possibility of violence from what he described as enemies within, in reference to the far-left movement. Trump called on the military to intervene to deal with them if necessary.

Trump added in statements to Fox News that he does not expect his supporters to cause chaos on the presidential election day on November 5, and said that those he described as enemies within are more dangerous than enemies abroad, including China and Russia.
