U.S. President Donald Trump described the war in Gaza as "brutal," expressing hope that the release of Idan Alexander marks one of the final steps toward ending the violent conflict.
“Idan Alexander’s release is a gesture of goodwill toward the United States and the mediation efforts of Egypt and Qatar to bring an end to this brutal war,” Trump said.
“I am pleased to announce that Idan Alexander, the American citizen held hostage since October 2023, will be reunited with his family,” he added.
