Former US President Donald Trump, who earlier announced his 2024 presidential bid, pledged to reform the country’s electoral system if he wins the 2024 presidential race.

Trump vowed to do everything he could to "bring back honesty and confidence" in the US election.

In a special address, he promised to submit voter ID requirements and vote on the same day.

The former president, who has repeatedly criticized the practice of early mail voting on numerous occasions in the past, has also vowed to make paper ballots the only option.

Trump announced on Wednesday he would run in the 2024 presidential election.

"I tonight am announcing my candidacy for president of the United States," he said, adding that he made the decision "in order to make America great and glorious again."

Shortly before the announcement, the US Federal Election Commission confirmed that Trump had become the first candidate of 2024 to present his candidacy for the presidency of the US.

Current US President Joe Biden announced his plans to run for his second presidential term on November 9, adding that the final decision on this issue has not yet been taken, and it will be announced no later than the beginning of 2023.
