Trump to Hold Talks with Qatari Leaders During Asian Tour Stop

A White House official said on Saturday that US  Donald Trump will meet with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, and the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, aboard Air Force One during a refueling stop in their country, while he is en route to Malaysia to attend a regional summit.

​The official added that US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, will accompany Trump in Qatar.

​Trump is scheduled to undertake an important tour that will culminate in a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, which is considered important for the global economy.

​Speaking aboard the presidential aircraft taking him to Asia, Trump said he was looking forward to a "very good meeting" with Xi, anticipating a deal with China to avoid the imposition of an additional 100 percent tariff, which is scheduled to take effect on November 1st.

​While heading to Kuala Lumpur, the US President also expressed his openness to meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during this first tour of the region since his return to power last January.
