US President Donald Trump has threatened “consequences” for Netflix if the streaming giant does not immediately remove Susan Rice from its board of directors.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump reshared allegations made by conservative activist Laura Loomer targeting Rice, before issuing his own sharply worded demand for her dismissal.
Trump wrote that Netflix must fire Rice immediately or face consequences, criticizing her qualifications and accusing her of political bias. He also questioned her compensation and role within the company.
The escalation followed comments attributed to Rice in which she reportedly suggested that companies that “bowed” to Trump could face an accountability agenda if Democrats were to win the 2026 and 2028 elections. Loomer criticized both Rice and Netflix, arguing that the company’s board composition reflects partisan alignment.
Trump amplified Loomer’s remarks in full before adding his direct call for Rice’s removal.
Rice previously served in senior roles under Democratic administrations, including as National Security Advisor during the presidency of Barack Obama and as US Ambassador to the United Nations. She joined Netflix’s board after leaving government service.
Her presence on the board of a major media and entertainment company has drawn criticism from some conservative figures who argue that political influence should not intersect with corporate governance in the media sector.
The dispute underscores ongoing tensions between Trump and major US corporations, as well as the increasingly politicized landscape surrounding corporate leadership and media governance.
