U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News on Wednesday that there is "no time pressure" surrounding the ceasefire or setting a new date for talks with Iran following the suspension of negotiations on April 12.

Speaking to Fox News a day after the ceasefire with Iran was extended indefinitely, Trump asserted that reports of a "three to five-day window" regarding the extension were "wrong."

The US President also commented on the vessels fired upon and seized by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, stating, "They were not American ships," while adding that he would be monitoring the situation closely.

Addressing when the conflict with Iran might end, Trump remarked that there is "no timeframe" and "no rush."

"People say I want to end it because of the midterms, but that’s not true," he explained, emphasizing that his administration aims to "get a good deal for the American people."

Trump further noted that "the siege will scare the Iranian regime more than the bombing," adding, "They’ve been bombed for years, but they hate the siege."
