On Thursday, The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) decided to approve Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for emergency usage, following the recommendation did by a panel of outside experts, according to the Foreign Policy.
On Thursday, the head of the FDA Stephen Hahn, and the head of the Regulator’s Vaccine Division Peter Marks expressed in a statement that they informed Moderna that they would work towards the “finalization and issuance” of an emergency approval.
This approval makes the US the first country to have approved two vaccines from both Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna.

This will help the US to produce enough doses to vaccinate more than 20 million people by the end of the year.
A few days ago, the US started vaccinating medical staff and nursing homes' workers with Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
