U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to halt the bombing of Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, describing the move as a “great gesture” aimed at easing military and humanitarian tensions. Trump said he personally requested that Putin stop the attacks for at least one week, emphasizing that the pause is intended to reduce civilian suffering and prevent further escalation in Ukraine.

The announcement comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict, even as fighting continues on multiple fronts and tensions between Moscow and Kyiv remain high. Trump presented the reported agreement as a step toward calming the situation on the ground and creating space for further diplomatic engagement.

In related remarks, Trump said the U.S. economy remains in good shape and stressed that his administration is working to avoid a government shutdown, underscoring efforts to ensure continuity in federal operations and prevent negative impacts on economic stability.

Trump also addressed relations with Venezuela, stating that he informed the country’s leadership that the United States plans to reopen its airspace to Venezuelan flights in the near future. He said he instructed the U.S. Secretary of Transportation to begin taking the necessary steps to implement the decision.
