Aston Villa forward Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet is reportedly close to joining Turkish Super Lig title-holders Trabzonspor.

The Egyptian’s time at Aston Villa seems to be coming to an end after the club listed him for sale with his contract running out in the summer of 2023.

Following a nine-month absence due to a knee injury, Trezeguet was sent on a six-month loan to Istanbul Basaksehir back in January after falling down the pecking order at Villa.

The 27-year-old managed to quickly rediscover his form after a fruitful spell in Turkey, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 13 appearances.

His performances also earned him back-to-back Player of the Month awards for the months of February and March.

As a result, he attracted the eyes of multiple clubs, especially in Turkey where he proved to shine, and according to Turkish news outlet fotoMac, Trabzonspor are the frontrunners as they are finalizing the deal with Aston Villa

The source claims that Trabzonspor will pay Aston Villa €3.5m for the Egyptian’s services, and his salary will be around €2.2m a year.
