The Tourism and Antiquities Ministry participates in the 40th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2020), with a high-level delegation, headed by Deputy Minister for Tourism at the Ministry Ghada Shalaby.

FITUR is set to kick off on Wednesday in the Spanish capital of Madrid till January 26.

In this regard, Shalaby stressed the importance of the ministry's participation in the event, which is one of the three most important international fairs in the world, noting that the Egyptian partaking is a great opportunity for being on the global tourism map and communicating with global tour operators.

On the fringe of the event, the delegation will meet some holidaymakers and tour agencies in Spain that are interested in the Egyptian market to promote tourism.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA) Ahmed Youssef said FITUR is the most important tourist gathering following ITB Berlin and the World Travel Market of London.

"It is the biggest tourism fair for the Spanish speaking countries," Youssef added.

The Egyptian pavilion is designed in the form of a pharaonic temple, decorated with hieroglyphic writings to promote cultural tourism, in which the Spanish tourists are interested.

A documentary on the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and stages of its construction works will be displayed at the 310-meter pavilion.

About 31 Egyptian participants, including 10 hotels and 20 tour agencies as well as Egypt Air, are partaking in the event.
