Today Marks 20th Death Anniv. of Alaa Waley El-Din

Today (Sep. 28) marks the 20th death anniversary of Alaa Waley El-Din, who despite his departure continues to draw smiles on our faces.

He was a versatile actor and comedian best known for his work in the Egyptian cinema of the 1990s and was nicknamed “Nazr Comdia" by his fans in the film world.

Born in 1963 in Egypt, he earned his degree from the Faculty of Commerce, in 1985.

Throughout his career, the acclaimed comedian starred in more than 140 films with roles ranging from television and film production.

In 1999, El-Din made his breakthrough with his roles in the hit film "Aboud Ala El Hedoud", in which he played the role of a cubby young man who lives a reckless life with his friends. 

However, his life turns upside down after his father marries another woman to teach him a lesson by welcoming a new baby boy and making him join the military.

His film credits include "Rehlat Faraj W Ghareeb", "Resala Alwaly", "Terrorism and the Kebab", "Ibn Ezz", and "Kashf El Mastoor".

He is known for his collaborations with Hassan Hosny, Dina, Enaam Salosa, Mahmoud Azab, Ahmed Mekky, and others.

His father, Samir Waley El-din starred on stage alongside prominent actor Adel Imam in the 1970 comedy play “Shahid Mashafsh Haga”.

The actor passed away at the peak of his career in 2003, aged 40.
