TikTok has announced the launch of a new dedicated space for “Time and Well-Being”, aimed at helping users manage their time and adopt more balanced digital habits.
This step comes as part of the platform’s ongoing efforts to support the safety and well-being of its users—particularly teenagers—whose accounts include more than 50 pre-enabled settings for safety, privacy, and security.
The “Time and Well-Being” space offers a set of tools and digital tasks designed to help users plan their daily routines and organize their time.
Among the new features is the Affirmational Journal, which allows users to select customizable affirmation cards for daily use, as well as the Soothing Sound Generator, which provides calming sounds such as rain and ocean waves to help users relax, in addition to breathing exercises designed to support mental and physical health.
To make these tools more accessible, TikTok collaborated with content creators to produce instructional videos explaining how to use the features—including setting daily screen-time limits, customizing the “For You” feed, and benefiting from the Family Pairing feature.
The latest update includes four tasks within the “Your Tasks” feature that encourage users to adopt more balanced digital behaviors. These tasks include:
Sleep Hours Task: Encourages users to stop using the app during nighttime hours and practice meditation, with progress tracked over eight weeks.
Daily Screen Time Task: Helps users set specific daily usage limits and stick to them.
Weekly Screen Time Task: Encourages reviewing weekly screen-time reports.
Well-Being Ambassador Task: Rewards users who invite others to discover and participate in these tasks.
These tasks are based on academic research showing that overly strict habit-building methods may be ineffective, and they also incorporate teenagers’ perspectives on the usefulness of time-management tools on digital platforms.
