Authorities have evacuated about 5,700 people from their homes following a water leak from a dam on China's second-largest freshwater lake, Dongting Lake, in southern China.
Rescue workers are striving to contain the situation to prevent further damage caused by the water flow.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), over 2,300 rescue personnel are constructing a second line of defense against the water influx after it leaked on Friday in Hunan Province.
As of Saturday morning, no injuries have been reported.
Government media footage shows water gushing through a breach in the dam, overturning several trucks, and forming pools that have inundated several homes.
Heavy rainfall has battered parts of Hunan in recent days, causing the water level of the Miluo River in Pingjiang County to rise to its highest point in 70 years.
Rescue teams are working around the clock to repair the breach and strengthen flood defenses to protect the affected communities.
The local government has urged residents to remain vigilant and follow safety instructions as efforts continue to stabilize the situation.
