On July 23, 2018, Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, and Triple H opened Raw to announce the creation of Evolution, an all-women's pay-per-view. Hall of Famers Lita, Trish Stratus and Beth Phoenix are slated to take part in the event. Current WWE champion Ronda Rousey is also slated to take part in the event, but her opponent has yet to be announced
This continues the series of changes the World Wrestling company is now implementing, after having a successful event in Saudi Arabia this year. Creating an all Women's Wrestling event is the first time something of this caliber is implemented. On August 18, a match between Alexa Bliss and Trish Stratus was scheduled for Evolution.
