The Israeli Knesset has finalized a bill to cut off electricity and water to the offices of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), making it effective immediately.
Israeli Army Radio reported that the Knesset (parliament) passed the bill in its second and third readings.
The vote passed with 59 votes in favor and 7 against, according to the same source.
Under Israeli law, any bill must pass three readings in the Knesset to become law.
The Knesset initially approved the bill in November 2025, and it was then referred to the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee for preparation before the second and third readings.
This decision comes at a time when Palestinians are increasingly reliant on UNRWA services, two years after a genocidal war waged by Israel, with US support, on the Gaza Strip from October 8, 2023, until a ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2024.
