As the Libyan crisis is about to be resolved, the United Nations mission announced on Saturday, that the Joint Military Committee will meet for the first time in the city of Ghadames, inside Libya.
The meeting will take place between the 2nd and the 4th of November, for the fifth round of talks, after the signing of the ceasefire agreement between the two delegations on 23 October in Geneva, Switzerland.
The mission also confirmed that the meeting will discuss the implementation of the permanent ceasefire agreement, through establishing sub-committees and mechanisms for monitoring and verifying the truce as well.
This meeting precedes the political dialogue talks, which the United Nations invited 75 Libyan personalities to participate in, to discuss the formation of a unified and consensual authority that will manage the transitional period until the parliamentary and presidential elections are held.
Meanwhile, Fayez Al-Sarraj, head of the Presidency Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord, agreed with the UN envoy to Libya, that the political solution should include all Libyans.
The two parties also confirmed their full support for the upcoming Libyan dialogue in Tunisia on the 9th of November.
The UN official stressed yesterday that the agreement on a permanent ceasefire that was reached during the Geneva talks last week, by the 5+5 committee, is a fundamental achievement in the conflict, pointing out that "implementing the ceasefire is the responsibility of the United Nations."
She also revealed that the next step will be removing mercenaries from the country, about the Syrian fighters who were transferred by Turkey to Tripoli to support the forces and coalitions of the Government of National Accord.
She added that "Our next step is to activate the clause on the removal of mercenaries and foreign fighters," stressing, "The countries responsible for mercenaries in Libya must withdraw them."
Williams, on her part, supported Sarraj's stay for a temporary period to implement the agreement on a permanent ceasefire that was reached during the Geneva talks last week.
