Dr. Salah Abdel-Aati, Chairman of the International Commission to Support Palestine, praised the Egyptian committee's role in supporting relief efforts for displaced Palestinians affected by the recent storms that exacerbated their suffering.
In a phone interview with Extra Live TV, Dr. Abdel-Aati stated, "The Egyptian committee played a crucial role in aiding Palestinians, securing equipment that contributed to rescue operations and humanitarian response, providing camps within the Gaza Strip, and supplying humanitarian aid to the Strip's residents."
He added that the situation in the Gaza Strip is more than tragic, and the winter rains have compounded the suffering of the displaced, as they have led to the collapse of buildings and have proven the inability of tents to withstand the catastrophic climate that swept through Gaza, leading to the destruction of more than 125,000 tents and the death of 21 Palestinians, including 6 children, due to the cold. He pointed out that the Strip is suffering from the collapse and destruction of infrastructure, humanitarian, service and health infrastructure, in addition to preventing the entry of fuel that operates water, sewage and electricity pumps. If humanitarian aid, tents and fuel are not allowed to enter more effectively, the situation will remain more catastrophic.
