For the fifth consecutive day, the Indonesian branch of the Muslim Council of Elders continued its activities on Lombok Island through a series of seminars, lectures, and lessons aimed at spreading and reinforcing the values of fraternity, peace, and coexistence.
In a morning lecture at the Al-Ahlia High School for Girls, affiliated with the Nahdlatul Wathan Association, Dr. Salah Al-Shami, a member of the Al-Azhar Heritage Revival Center, emphasized the rich history of Islamic women who excelled in various fields. Al-Shami pointed out Islam's recognition of women and their pioneering role in the advancement of nations and societies.
At the Dar Al-Quran and Hadith Institute, Dr. Al-Shami met with several students who were keen to attend the morning session. He delivered a lecture attended by parents and senior individuals, discussing the Quran as Allah's eternal miracle. Al-Shami stressed that belief in the unseen is the key to benefiting from the Quran and highlighted the importance of embodying the Quran's teachings, following its guidance, and educating children on its recitation, understanding, and etiquette.
Dr. Al-Shami delivered the Friday sermon at the Taqwa Mosque, where he explained the logic behind mercy whilst emphasizing the importance of practising compassion as a means to attain Allah's mercy, and the necessity of spreading goodness to others by following the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The day's activities concluded with a meeting between students from the Falah Address School and Dr. Al-Shami, where the latter spoke with students about the significance of acquiring knowledge, emphasizing that it takes precedence over all other forms of worship. He also encouraged students to seek knowledge with humility, precision, and diligence, highlighting the eagerness of the Prophet's companions and their followers to seek, apply, and disseminate knowledge among all people.
