The 10 Musketeers – Partners in Crime

The Three Musketeers is a historical and adventure novel written in 1844 by the famous French author Alexandre Dumas, the novel was about Athos, Porthos and Aramis, which were also called “the three inseparables”. They were always together and went through all sorts things as a team.

Today, I will tell you about another team; they did not live at the time of the three musketeers and they are not French; they are not men and they are not three.

The bunch of musketeers I am introducing to you are ten Egyptian women united under the bond of friendship and they are my partners in crime.

Did you ever ask yourself what true friendship is? I did and the definition of it evolved over the years. Now, true friendship to me means to have someone (or more) who accepts you the way you are, loves you, understands you, respects your mind and appreciates it;  does not lead nor follow you rather walks shoulder to shoulder next to you in the journey of life.

It is extending your family with more people but not from your own blood. It’s the bond that keeps your life balanced, your time well spent with quality hearts. It is having a lending hand which helps and supports in hardship or in pain, and being your guiding compass pointing to the right direction.

Back to our group of the ten musketeers, we are all different in our life paths, yet we are alike in terms of how much we value friendship and value one another. We have the same beliefs and principles, but we implement them differently. We are very persified in terms of how we think and we are not a replica of each other but that brings a lot of different outlooks of life in the group. We do not have the same experiences in life but we have lots of common grounds in terms of how we ultimately see things and last but not least. We have fun just by being together despite what we are doing and where .

In other words, we would have perfectly fit to have been school buddies, but fate had us meet in our adulthood.

Given all above, our friendship is genuinely providing each one of us with the right dose of companionship, advice, support and love.

A wise man said: "As you grow older, you realize it becomes less important to have more friends and more important to have real ones." That is exactly the feeling I have towards the group of the ten musketeers.

My dear friends: Randa, Dalia G, Dalia M, Sally, Reem, Sherine, Manal, Nora and Marwa, thank you for being in my life and for your vow of friendship that you constantly keep.

Dear readers, I am sure there are many groups of musketeers just like mine in your lives too, maybe more or less in number of people but all are equally the same in the added value and in making life worth living.
